Zoos and Farms
These zoos may be of interest to Boy Scouts (ages 11-17):
- Overlook Farm
- an educational farm in Rutland, MA (20 minutes from Saint George Church).
- Southwick's Zoo
- Located in Mendon, MA (about 35 minutes from Worcester, MA).
- Forest Park Zoo
- Located in Springfield, MA (about one hour from Worcester, MA).
- Franklin Park Zoo
- Located in Boston, MA (about one hour from Worcester, MA).
- Roger Williams Park Zoo
- Located in Providence, RI (about one hour from Worcester, MA), this is the biggest and best zoo this close
to Worcester.
The zoos listed above also interest Cub Scouts (Grades 1-5, ages 6-10). In addition, the following are
better suited to these younger adventurers:
For families, apple picking can be fun. A couple of the many local "pick your own" farms:
- George Hill Orchards
- In addition to picking apples and other fruits, the farm includes the Farm House Grill, the Apple Tree Theater and the
Tree-mendous Maze. Located in South Lancaster, MA (about 30 minutes from Worcester, MA).
- Tougas Farm
- In addition to picking apples and other fruits, the farm includes a small barnyard area for interaction with animals, a playground and
a farm kitchen. Located in Northboro, MA (about 15 minutes from Worcester, MA)
