On April 15, Troop 54 visited the Sustainability Hub, the new science center devoted to energy efficiency and sustainability in Worcester. National Grid partnered with Clark University to create this resource for electricity users.
Using a hand generator, the Scouts got to feel the difference in the power required for an LED lamp, compared with an incandescent lamp. Sustainability Ambassadors John and Brittany provided a great tour of the facility.
One thing we learned was that if your electic meter has a blue stripe on it, you are in the Smart Grid pilot area and likely qualify for one or more efficiency gadgets from National Grid. If you you have the smart meter, log into your National Grid account for details.
We had nine youth members and five leaders participating.
