It gave him direction and purpose when he had little support from other sources and it prepared him for a profession that he loved and in which he enjoyed success. Bill serves his council as commissioner and considers his investment of time in the program as a way to pay back all that Scouting has done for him and his family.

"I don't know what would have happened to me if I had not had Scouting in my life," Bill said.

Don't Miss an Adventure of a Lifetime!

Northern Tier High Adventure 2011

The next meeting is Monday, April 24, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, 1216 Main Street =E2=80=93 Holden.

Nothern Tier offers unique and exciting wilderness canoe trips. The 2011 Mohegan Council Northern Tier contingent will be attending the Charles L. Sommers base located 22 miles east of Ely, Minnesota on beautiful Moose Lake, the premier entry point into the Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area. The camp features 28 sleeping cabins, a trading post, rustic dining hall, voyageur encampment area.

The Charles L. Sommers canoe programs can be handled by novice canoeists, but also offer challenging routes for experienced travelers. Once a crew leaves their base camp, there are no lodgings/buildings along the trail, and aircraft and motorboats are restricted. Typical treks cover 50 to 150 miles and take 6 to 10 days. Each crew is accompanied by an experience wilderness instructor.

You'll visit beautiful waterfalls, travel into remote country, find the best fishing locations, visit ancient Native American pictographs and much more! It's the high adventure trip of a lifetime and a truly special scouting experience!

Two crews will be traveling to Northern Tier High Adventure Base from the Mohegan Council in August 2011.

Only two youth and one adult slot(s) remain!

Contact Jeff Harris for the time of the meeting and with your questions. Information and Overview
