Merit Badges

Merit badges provide Scouts with the opportunity to try all sorts of hobbies, sports, skills and careers. Some specific merit badges are required to earn the ranks (known as "Eagle required" badges), while others can be selected from over 120 available topics.

Earning Merit Badges with Troop 54:

Blue Cards Instructions for completing and using Blue Cards in earning merit badges.
Metalwork Merit Badge A camping trip in 2016 featured blacksmith activities to complete metalwork merit badge requirements.
Family Life Merit Badge Sessions in 2008 troop meetings to help earn the Family Life merit badge.
Hiking Merit Badge Series of hikes in 2007 to earn the Hiking merit badge.
Cycling Merit Badge Series of rides in 2007 to earn the Cycling merit badge.


Merit Badge University:

APO at WPI Alpha Phi Omega fraternity at WPI hosts an annual Merit Badge University that runs on two days.
Spirit of Adventure Council Spirit of Adventure Council runs its Merit Badge University at Harvard University. This typically includes only non Eagle-required badges.
Old Colony Council Old Colony Council offers a Merit Badge University in Easton, MA.
Western Massachusetts Council Western Massachusetts Council offers a Merit Badge University in Amherst, MA. This program includes Eagle-required badges.
