Event Description
Troop 54 will travel to Deer Lake Outdoor Center to participate in the 2026 Fishing Derby. The camp is owned by the Pathfinders; the event is hosted by the CT Yankee Council. This will be our third trip to the camp.
The fishing derby runs 8 AM to 4:30 PM on Saturday. See the event flyer for details. If space is available, we will sign up for the morning fishing (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM).
This trip is open to Scouts BSA members and AOL Scouts.
Registration

Permission Slip - Each participating Scout must submit this to the Scoutmaster by March 31.
- Event registration fee - pay by March 31 (includes food):
Youth - $72 (online payment)
Adult - $42 (online payment - does not include participation in the fishing derby
- Annual Health and Medical Record - Each participant must have submitted this record
within the previous year and no later than March 31. This trip requires only Parts A and B, including copy of insurance card (both sides). A medical exam is not required.
- Adults - In accordance with a BSA rule that became effective September 1, 2023,
"All adults staying overnight in connection with a Scouting activity must be currently registered in an adult fee required position as listed or as an adult program participant."
Packing
Use our Personal Camping List to ensure you pack the needed items and see our Personal Camping Gear page for descriptions of most of the items needed and for how to use the checklist. You can pack your stuff in a backpack (the big kind), a duffle bag or a tub. Specific items to bring:
- Water bottle
- Full uniform (as for just about any event) - wear this.
- Food - Each patrol should plan to provide 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 1
dinner. Participants bring your own drinks and food for snacks.
Travel
- Meet at the Epworth United Methodist Church parking lot at 6:15 PM on Friday for departure by 6:30 PM.
- Travel to the
camp entrance
is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
- Estimated return to the church is 11:30 AM Sunday (+/- 1 hr). We will call parents with an updated arrival time estimate after we depart the camp.
