Douglas SF Backpacking Trip

Hikers

Saturday, August 20 -
Sunday, August 21, 2016
Douglas State Forest
Douglas, MA

We will hike in Douglas State Forest and camp at a trail shelter just off the Midstate Trail. Most of the hike in will be on the Midstate Trail with a possible switch to the Southern New England Trunkline Trail. This area is fairly flat, so the trail is very easy.

On the hike back, we will stop at Wallum Lake, where the participants can go for a swim at the beach.

Use our Backwoods Camping List to make sure you don't forget anything. Be sure to include plenty of water. Pack your stuff in a frame backpack and bring a trail weight sleeping bag. Pack light - "Every ounce counts!" Pack a swim suit if you plan to go swimming.

See other camping information on our Camping page.

All youth participants should wear their hiking boots for a day during the previous week to ensure that the boots fit.

Youth members should weigh at least 90 pounds to participate in a backpacking trip. The packed backpack should weigh no more than 25% of the participant's weight.

A planning meeting will be held for trip participants:
