Fall Camporee

October 2010

 

The Quinsigamond District Fall Camporee that Troop 54 had planned to attend October 1-3 has been cancelled. The following are alternatives we considered:

A - Green Mountain Council Centennial Camporee - October 1-3, at Mount Norris Scout Reservation in Eden, VT (about 4-1/2 hours North). Activities: Geocache, Rifle Shooting, Shotgun shooting, Trap Shooting, Archery, BB Range, Boating, Sailing, Pioneering Skills, Youth Protection Training, Saturday Evening Show, Scouts Own Service, Closing Ceremony. Exhibitions: National Guard Challenges and Activities, Merit Badge Midway, OA Village with American Indian Drumming Circle with interactive displays, Outdoor Organizations. Other: Outdoor Vendors, Trading Post. Fee: $20 (Scouts and Leaders), does not include food.

B - Mohegan Council Family Camp - October 8-10 at Treasure Valley. Archery, BB, Rifle Shooting (11 and older), Rain-gutter Regatta, Boating, Crafts, Bicycling (bring your own), Build your own raft, Fishing (bring your own gear), Scouts Own Service, Campfire. Fee: $32 (Scouts and Leaders), includes meals.

C - Massasoit District Fall Camporee - October 1-3, in West Brookfield, MA. Earn either the American Heritage or Scouting Heritage Merit Badge. Fee: $10 (Scouts and Leaders), does not include food.

D - Nashua Valley Council Fall Camporee - October 1-3, at Felton Field in Barre, MA. Activities are all sorts of sports (Tennis, Volleyball, etc.). Fee: $8 (Scouts and Leaders), does not include food.

E - North District Fall Camporee - October 15-17, at Appleton Farms in Ipswich, MA. Activities: Geocaching and Orienteering (including Second Class requirements), Fruit cooking competition, Campfire. Fee: $8 (Scouts and Leaders), does not include food.

F - Seven Rivers District Fall Camporee - October 15-17, at Cracker Barrel Fair Grounds in Wrentham, MA. Activities: Work on Radio , Geocaching, Signaling and Orienteering merit badges. Fee: $10 (Scouts and Leaders), does not include food.

Each Scout got one vote up to September 19. The winning camporee was B - Mohegan Council Family Camp.
