Squanto Cabin Camping Trip

Event Description
Troop 54 returns to Camp Squantofor our February trip. We will be in the Blackfoot Cabin (one we have not used before). The cabin has a fire ring, picnic table, electricity, propane heat, refrigerator, water spigot (probably the nearby frost-free valve), propane stove and oven and separate adult room with a capacity of 14 youth and 4 adults.
This trip is open to Scouts BSA members and Webelos/Arrow of Light Scouts.
Registration
- Permission Slip - Each participating Scout
must submit this to the Scoutmaster by February 6.
- Event registration fee - pay by February 6 (includes food):
Youth or Adult - $52 (online payment)
- Annual Health and Medical Record - Each participant must have submitted this record within the previous year
and no later than February 6. This trip requires only Parts A and B, including copy of insurance card (both sides). A medical exam is not required.
- Adults - In accordance with a BSA rule that became effective September 1, 2023,
"All adults staying overnight in connection with a Scouting activity must be currently registered in an adult fee required position as listed or as an adult program participant."
Packing
Use our Personal Camping List to ensure you pack the needed items and see our Personal Camping Gear page for descriptions of most of the items needed and for how to use the checklist. You can pack your stuff in a backpack (the big kind - this is preferred on this trip), a duffle bag or a tub. Specific items to bring:
- Water bottles (2)
- Full uniform (as for just about any event) - wear this.
- Cold Weather Clothing - We plan to spend significant time outdoors (in New England in Winter), so dress appropriately.
- Food - Each patrol should plan to provide 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 1 dinner.
Participants bring your own drinks and food for snacks.
Travel
- Meet at the Epworth United Methodist Church parking lot at 6:00 PM Friday for
departure by 6:15 PM.
- Travel to the
Camp Squanto entrance is about 1 hour 50 minutes from Epworth United Methodist Church. Only the participating adults will drive to the camp. We will most likely park in the main parking area and use sleds to transport our gear to the cabin over level ground.
- Estimated return to the church is 12:00 PM (+/- 1 hour) on Sunday. We will call family
members as our timing becomes more clear..
