Extreme 2 tent from Alps Mountaineering

Troop 54 traveled to Horace A Moses Scout Reservation in Russell, Massachusetts in the West Point tenting site. The site, located near a cabin, had only a fire pit and bear box and shared a nearby pit latrine with the cabin. We had 5 Scouts and 2 leaders on this trip.

Very dry conditions had required a change in plans the day before the trip. Our original destination was subject to a statewide Connecticut ban on any ignition of fire, including for camp stoves. When we arrived at Moses, we were instructed that we could have a fire above the ground, which would have worked for us since we keep a Pop Up Pit in the trailer. About two hours later, we got word that no fires were allowed (but stoves were still allowed).

The Parade Field had some games set up (tether ball, human Foosball, a Gaga pit). Our Scouts made use of those.

Most of the other campers that weekend were there for an Order of the Arrow event. Another unit had a tent site at the far end of camp.

We walked around a lot of the camp. The Trading Post was open, which is a rarity at camps during the off-season.

This was our 191st consecutive month with at least one overnight camping trip.
