Troop 54 was at Chippewa site this year, our first time using it during summer camp. The site worked well for us as it was more centrally located to program locations while being further from the beaten path. The weather was pretty good, with little rain until the last day. Mosquitos, which usually are pretty intense at this camp, were not so bad. This was the biggest week of the seaon for Treasure Valley, with about 300 Scouts and leaders.

Troop 54 had twenty-three campers this year (19 Scouts and 4 leaders). During the week:

  • Several members of the troop participated in the Order of the Arrow's Hour of Service, this year movng tons of rock to repair erosion around foot bridges and cutting tree limbs over paths.
  • Older Scouts participated in COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience).
  • Our four first year campers participated in Brownsea Island Adventure.
  • Our Scouts manned their own "war canoe" during the annual camp race.
  • Our Scouts earned 53 merit badges (and several partials).
  • We had one rank advancement.
  • Our OA members ran an election at another troop.

The closing ceremony this year was moved up due to impending rain, which ensured we were all on the field as the sky opened up. The ceremony was cut short after about three minutes, and the closing campfire was cancelled.
